Wetzel Wayne Rumburg
Age 70, of Findlay Township, Coraopolis, Pa, passed on Monday January 18, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital of natural causes. Wayne was born on February 21,1950 in Packsville, WV. A son of the late Glendl (Null) and Norman Rumburg. Beloved husband of Linda J. (Filardi) Rumburg; adored father of Barbara (Richard) Lafferty, Jason (Kathy) Rumburg, Ben (Hillary) Rumburg; step father of Dana (Roy) Garvey-Ruckert, and Darren Garvey. Grandfather of Zachary Bettes, Faith Lafferty, Noah Rumburg, James Rumburg, Brennan Rumburg, Gavin Rumburg, Kaden Rumburg; step grandfather of Morgan Platko, Mackenzie Platko, and Marissa Platko; cherished great grandfather of Jacob; brother of Gerry (Len Ramos) Rumburg, and the late Gary (wife Patty) Rumburg who survives. He loved his Labrador retrievers, Lad, Moose and Penny.
Wayne served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era, 1968-1972, and then was employed as a meteorologist for the National Weather Service until his retirement in 2006. He became an ACE Certified Personal Trainer working at a local corporation, and was also a member of the Seven Springs Ski Patrol for a few years. Wayne received a kidney transplant in 1998 and participated in three U.S. Transplant Olympic Games, medaling in all of them. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, water and snow skier, dirt bike and Harley Davidson rider, traveler, gardener, storyteller, and adventure lover. He lived life to the fullest.
