Virginia E. McElhaney

Virginia E. McElhaney, age 85, of Findlay Township, Imperial, PA, ended her journey after a long battle with cardiac issues on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.  Virginia was born on August 25, 1937, in Imperial, PA, preceded in death by her parents, Susan (Simko) and Franklin McElhaney.  She was the beloved mother of Cindy Sherbondy and husband Richard; sister to the late Darlene Loerch; best friend to Gwen Clements; also surviving are four step-grandsons, five step-great-grandsons, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  She will also be sadly missed by granddogs Buster, Brenna, and Bree, who were all thoroughly spoiled by her.  Virginia had a successful career as an Assistant Vice President with PNC Bank where she worked for 35 years, retiring in 1997.  She then went on to work for the Allegheny County Port Authority Credit Union as a loan officer before retiring again in 2007.  Virginia was a perpetual volunteer.  She was the area coordinator for Project Bundle-Up and helped to create hats for the homeless and lap robes for veterans and seniors.  The Red Cross, the Central Blood Bank, and many other organizations benefitted from her kind and generous spirit.  This generosity extended to baking her much loved and fondly remembered brownies for Findlay Township employees and Police Department and numerous physicians and office staff.  Family to receive friends at the HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Rd., North Fayette Twp., Imperial, PA, 724-695-7332 on Monday, June 19, 2023, between the hours of 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 11:00 am followed by entombment at Resurrection Cemetery in Moon Township, PA.  It is respectfully requested memorial donations be sent to one’s favorite charity in Virginia’s honor.  Rest in peace, Virginia.
