Thomas J. Burke III, age 78, of North Fayette Township, Oakdale, PA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Tom was born on August 17, 1946, in Pittsburgh, PA, son to the late Ruth (Welsch) and Thomas Burke II; devoted husband of 54 years to Bertha (Chambers) Burke; beloved father to his son, Thomas Burke IV, and his wife, Kristin; proud Pap to Tommy (Marissa) Burke V and Gabrielle Burke; cherished great-grandpap to Carlos Anthony Sanchez.
Tom grew up in Robinson Township and graduated from Montour High School where he met his wife, Bertha. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1968. Upon Tom’s return to the states, he was employed by the Norfolk Southern Railroad where he was a Brakeman/Conductor until his retirement.
Tom’s joys in life were riding his CJ5 Jeep, spending time at Pymatuning Lake, and enjoying being with his family and faithful dogs. Rest in peace, Tom.
Family to receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., at HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Road, North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, (724) 695-7332, followed by a Blessing Service at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 10:00 am. It is respectfully requested that memorial donations in Tom’s name be sent to Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS, 66675-8516, or to an animal rescue of one's choice.
