Saundra K. “Sunny” Zastawa, age 83, of Findlay Township, Clinton, PA, passed away at Sewickley Valley Hospital on Sunday morning, November 23, 2025. Sunny was born in Stowe Township, PA, on June 4, 1942, daughter to the late Catherine (Napoli) and William Volbrecht. She is survived by her children, Thomas “Tommy” (Darla) Zastawa and Sherri (Ronald) Griffin; grandchildren, Mark and Kevin Griffin; and, lifelong neighbor, Cindy Wilson, who is more like a second daughter. Sunny is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Zastawa, and brother, William “Bill” Volbrecht.
A dance teacher for most of her life, Sunny was a pillar of the community as she taught countless individuals throughout the area and often went on to teach the children of her former students at her dance studio, “Sunny’s Dance Workshop. In 1999, she would go on to open her childcare center, "Sunny's Wee Kids Palace," where she continued to touch the lives of many. Throughout her life, Sunny enjoyed shopping for bargains, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren whom she cherished.
Sunny will be greatly missed by all of her family, friends, neighbors, and many others in the community who had the honor of knowing her.
Family to receive friends on Friday, November 28, 2025, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Road, North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, (724) 695-7332, where a Blessing Service will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by committal at Resurrection Cemetery. A luncheon at Clinton U.P. Church will take place following the committal.
