Ronald Bolind Sr. Obituary

Ronald E. “Gene” Bolind Sr., age 87, of Findlay Township, Clinton, PA, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024. Gene was born in Clinton, PA, on June 30, 1936, son to the late Ellen (Hughes) and Frank Bolind; devoted husband of 62 years to Judy (Beitsinger) Bolind who survives; beloved father to Ronald Bolind Jr., Scott Bolind, Chris (Maryann) Bolind, and Kerry Bolind Branton; cherished grandfather to Jesse, Caleb, Cory, Dylan, and Kirsten; brother to Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Bolind, Frank (Harriet) Bolind; preceded in death by his first wife, the late Nancy L. (Gittens) Bolind and siblings, the late Rita Anderson (whose husband, Bob, survives), Charles (Dee) Hughes, and Eleanor; also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

After graduating from high school, Gene worked in construction, worked for J & L Steel, and also worked for Alan Wood Steel in the Philadelphia area. He and his family then returned to Clinton where he was employed as a machinist for RB&W, retiring from there after many years of service. In addition, Gene put in 40+ years of part-time service working in maintenance at the Findlay Township Municipal Building. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #669, Oakdale, and the SNPJ Lodge #106, Imperial. Gene was a loyal Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers fan and loved watching their games. He had a huge ball cap and t-shirt collection that would make The Pittsburgh Dad proud. Gene and Judy gave of their time and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for several years. Mostly, he appreciated the simple pleasures of life, sitting on the porch and watching the birds, bunnies, and endless critters in the yard and enjoying treats provided by Judy. Gene was funny, made others laugh and smile, and was the smoothest dancer on the floor at family and friends’ weddings. More than anything, family was important to Gene. He was an amazing provider and the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.
