Robert J. “Jim” Cassidy, age 84, of Hanover Township, Clinton, PA, passed away at his residence on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Jim was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on May 1, 1940, son to the late James E. and Anna R. (Cohen) Cassidy; devoted husband of 62 years to Mary Ann (Suchma) Cassidy; beloved father to Joyce (Mike) Fentross, Colleen (Jack) Magee, James (Kim) Cassidy, Marcy (Bill) Stevenson, Dan (Chris) Cassidy, Susie Cassidy (John Miles); cherished grandfather to 13; adored great-grandfather to 14; brother to Mary Kenny, Patty Powers, and the late Marie Cassidy and Michael Cassidy.
Jim worked as a millwright, steelworker, and rigger during his career at J&L/LTV Steel. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a lifelong member of the Goodwill Hill Hunting and Fishing Club. Jim was also a handyman par excellence, a master of silly jokes, and had a soft spot for children and animals. Family meant everything to Jim, and he was most proud of raising six loving children. His life’s greatest success was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Rest in peace, Jim.
Family to receive friends for a memorial gathering on Thursday, July 11, 2024, between the hours of 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm, at HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Road, North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, (724) 695-7332, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish.
