Robert M. McArdle

Robert Michael “Bob” McArdle, age 79, of North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026.  Bob was born in Homestead, PA, on May 11, 1947, one of nine children to the late Eva Margaret (Froelich) and John Gerard McArdle.  Preceding Bob in his death was his wife, Linda Lee (Maybury) McArdle.  They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in August of 2023 before Linda unexpectedly passed on November 5, 2023.  Surviving are Bob’s daughters, Lori Rankin and Lisa Rippole; son-in-law, Guy Rippole; the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Robert (Robbie) and Sarah Rankin and Justin Rippole; siblings, including his twin brother, Joseph (Charmaine) McArdle, Pat (Carmen) Scuilli, Alene Opat, and Daniel McArdle; sister-in-law, Diane (Keith) Johnston; brothers-in-law, Gary Ignatz and Bruce Maybury; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.  Also preceding Bob in death are his son-in-law, Duane E. Rankin, sister, Norah (McArdle) Davis, and sister-in-law, Lorraine Ignatz.

Bob was a graduate of Connelley Vocational High School in 1965.  He worked for Dravo on Neville Island as a tugboat draftsman.  He then moved up to a career as a steel furnace designer for Pittsburgh-Des Moines (PDM) Steel Company, also on Neville Island.  Bob moved to General Fabricating Services (GFS) in Carnegie before a heart attack and triple bypass caused him to re-evaluate priorities and open his own company, J&R CAD Enterprises, located in the Sarah Suite in Imperial.

Bob was a proud U. S. Air Force veteran and taught his family the importance of supporting our troops.  Serving in the Pittsburgh Air Force Reserve Command as a medic during the early 1970’s, Bob was then honorably discharged in 1972.  He transferred to the Pennsylvania Air National Guard 112 Maintenance Squad until the base mission changed.  He and his team transferred to the District of Columbia Air National Guard 113th Maintenance Squad where Bob was a crew chief on a bombing loader crew.  He was honorably discharged in 1994 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Bob and his wife, Linda, lived in Elizabeth, PA, before moving to Baden where they managed Virginia Heights Apartments for almost 20 years.  He always supported his girls, Lori and Lisa, with their activities and Linda with her volunteer work.  Bob was a proud member of the Ambridge Band Boosters and was a former Girl Scout and Troop Leader alongside Linda where they planned troop camping trips and sorted hundreds of cases of cookies.  Once both girls were married, they moved to Imperial and changed colors from garnet and grey to red and white to support their greatest joys, their grandchildren, Robbie, Justin, and Sarah.  The McArdles could be found at every Donaldson Elementary open house, band concert, and WA High School and Little Indians football games, watching the band and cheerleaders.

Bob lived for his family, especially his grandchildren.  Two destinations that he looked forward to taking them on a regular basis were Disney and Myrtle Beach, SC.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 22, 2026, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 8:00 p.m., at HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Road, North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, (724) 695-7332.  Bob’s burial will take place on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA, with Military Honors.  Everyone please meet at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m.
