Rita M. Smith

Rita M. Smith, age 76, of North Fayette Township, Oakdale, PA, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Heritage Valley Sewickley.  She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on February 16, 1947, a daughter to Rita (St. Clair) and John Whetsell; devoted wife of 22 years to the late Robert Smith who passed away on February 12, 1991; beloved mother to Scott and his wife, the late Dianne Smith, Brian (Wendy) Smith, and Nick (Rachel) Smith; cherished grandmother to Lainey Schuler and Anna Smith; adored great-grandmother “Nuna” to London and Logan; sister to Linda Hutton, John (Beth) Whetsell, and Donald (Dianne) Whetsell.  Rita retired from Ohio Valley Hospital where she worked in the emergency department.  Family to receive friends at the HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Rd., North Fayette Twp., Imperial, PA, 724-695-7332 on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, between the hours of 4-8 pm followed by a funeral service at 8 pm.  Entombment to be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date.  Rest in peace, Rita.
