Rita Mae (Hurlburt) Pinkerton

Rita Mae Pinkerton, age 93, of North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, May 20, 2026.  Rita was born in Marine City, MI, daughter to the late Mercedes (Thoin) and Donald Hurlburt; loving wife of 38 years to the late William J. Pinkerton who passed on June 15, 2013; beloved mother to Glenn (Susan) Kaufman, Denise (Robert) Fullerton, the late David Kaufman, and Dean (Cheryl) Kaufman; stepmother to Rebecca Pinkerton-Fitch, Ralph (April Lou) Pinkerton, and Gregory (Shelly) Pinkerton; cherished grandmother to William Cunningham, Aaron Cunningham, Jaime Cunningham, David Kaufman, and the late Caroline Kaufman; adored great-grandmother to Brady, Brynn, Shanon, Noah, Kymani, and Treyton; sister to James Hurlburt, Amelia Jackson, Diane Maddox, Darlene Daugherty, Elton Hurlburt, Paul Hurlburt, Mark Hurlburt, Laura Svajda, the late Anne Klein, Elizabeth McClelland, Donald Hurlburt, John Hurlburt, William Hurlburt, and Bruce Hurlburt.

Early on in their marriage, Rita and her husband, William, traveled extensively for his job as an engineer.  They journeyed all over the U.S. and to foreign countries including Brazil and Indonesia.  For most of her life, however, Rita’s time and efforts were devoted to her family.  Early memories of family gatherings include pool parties with friends and neighbors.  One of Rita’s favorite pastimes was spending time in her garden, growing and enjoying her flowers.  Most of all, Rita treasured time spent in making memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She was dearly loved and will always be remembered.  Rest in peace, Rita.
