Richard P. McConnell, age 90, of Findlay Township, Imperial, PA, passed away peacefully at Sewickley Valley Hospital on Saturday afternoon, December 14, 2024, with his family by his side.  Richard was born on November 1, 1934, in Sewickley, PA, son to the late Melva (Purdy) and J. Harold McConnell; devoted husband of 69 years to Joan M. (Lutz) McConnell, who survives; beloved father to Kevin McConnell and his wife, Lisa, Mark McConnell, and Todd McConnell and his wife, Barbara; cherished grandfather to Megan (Steve) Hoffman, Michael (Jacqueline) McConnell, Mollie (Greg) Pollock, Ashley (Brian) Harris, Mara (Jon) Adams, Scott (Maggie) McConnell, Caroline McConnell, and Alex Stewart; adored great-grandfather to Owen, Kaleigh, Declan, Oliver, Kiera, Finnegan, Landon, Lucie, Sophie, the late Maeve, and a great-grandson on the way; brother to the late Martha Dolores Behnke, Evelyn McConnell, Harold McConnell, and Donald McConnell.

Richard graduated from Moon High School in 1952, and then served his country as an M.P. in the U.S. Army.  He solely owned and operated his own company, starting McConnell Heating and Cooling in 1985 and working there until his retirement.  Richard, along with his wife, Joan, was a current member of Clinton U.P. Church where he served on the Board of Trustees.  He was a former member of Valley Presbyterian Church, at times holding positions of Chairman of the Congregation, Ruling Elder, Deacon, and Trustee.  Richard also served his community over the years as a one-term Findlay Township Supervisor and two-term member of the West Allegheny School Board.

Richard enjoyed cheering on the Steelers, RV’ing, and the yearly gathering with his Army buddies and their families.  He answered to many names: PaPaw, Pappy, Peeps, and Grandpa.  Richard was of deep faith and had a love of family, country, and community.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
