Raymond Sheesley Obituary

Raymond F. Sheesley, age 80, of Coraopolis, PA, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away on December 16, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.  He was born in Findlay Township, PA, on July 4, 1945, son to the late Viola (McElhaney) and Raymond Sheesley; husband to the late Marsha (Dutterer) Sheesley.  Raymond is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Sheesley; son, Jason Sheesley; granddaughters, Lauren Bailey and Meagan (Zachary) Frantik; sister, Esther Winter; and loyal companion, Sasha, with whom he spent most of his days.  Along with his parents and wife, Raymond is preceded in death by his sister, Ada Cain.

Raymond grew up in Imperial, PA, and attended West Allegheny High School.  After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the military from 1964 to 1967.  While serving his country, Raymond earned the Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.  His specialty title was Rifleman and Proof Director Small Arms (firearms).  Raymond valued this service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant before his retirement.  The patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him.

Raymond’s loved ones will remember his disarming wit, profound sense of humor, and an empathetic ear. He was respected by many and was always willing to lend a hand.  Rest in peace, Raymond.

A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA, with Full Military Honors.
