Ralph Peter Bonnar Jr., age 77, of North Fayette Township, Oakdale, PA, passed peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 14, 2022, after a courageous two-year battle against pulmonary fibrosis. A son of the late Ralph and Catherine (Wessel) Bonnar Sr.; beloved husband of 54 years of Carol A. (Conway) Bonnar; loving father of Jason (Amy) Bonnar, Brian (Heather) Bonnar, and the late Kimberly Ann Behr who passed on November 21, 2019, and her husband Phillip who survives; cherished grandfather of Bethany Bonnar, Jameson Bonnar, Jacob Bonnar, Karina Bonnar, Connor Behr, and Ellie Behr; brother of Sandra (Richard) Walker, Richard (Christine) Bonnar, Ronald Bonnar, Roy Bonnar, and Sharon (Gene) Howard. Ralph was born on January 9, 1945, in Pittsburgh, PA, graduated from Montour High School in 1964, attended Universal Art Academy and later earned an associate degree in commercial art a CCAC. He and his wife Carol were married in 1968. He started his art/advertising career with several local newspapers, joined the art staff of the Beaver County Times in 1973, where he worked for 33 years, and retired as an advertising account executive in 2005. His retirement allowed him to pursue his love of painting. He created works of art in various media, focused on landscapes and still life arrangements. As a member of the West Hills Art League, he displayed his paintings online at bonnarartwork.wordpress.com and in local exhibits. Despite his lung disease diagnosis, he took every opportunity to attend numerous musical, dance and gymnastics performances and sporting events in which his grandchildren were involved. They were the light of his life. His legacy is one of love, humor, optimism, and a devotion to family. Ralph will be missed and lovingly remembered by all.
