Mary Lou Buell Obituary

Mary Lou Buell, age 89, of Findlay Township, Coraopolis, PA, passed away at her home on Sunday morning, July 27, 2025.  Mary Lou was born on October 19, 1935, in Oakdale, PA, daughter to the late Mary (Smith) and William Windsheimer; loving wife of 51 years to the late Gary A. Buell who passed on September 28, 2011; beloved mother to Linda (Jeffrey) Pekular, Perry Buell and his significant other, Barbara Madison, and Michael Buell; cherished grandmother to Andre Buell, Justin (Rachael) Pekular, Kaitlin (Ryan) Fisher, Jordan (Jennifer) Buell, and Leslie (Jake) Migitsch; adored great-grandmother to Charlie Buell, Eylnn Buell, Christopher Fisher, Natalie Fisher, and one more on the way; sister to Doris Scott and the late Freda Lutz, Alice Wellhausen, Alma Hanczar, Millie Collins, LaVerne Gower, and Harry, William, Charles, Alvin, and Ralph Windsheimer; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was well known and adored as “Amme” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She had a tender heart and was always just a phone call away to discuss any of life’s trials and tribulations.  Amme had a way of caring for anyone she encountered.  A great storyteller, she never forgot a single detail.  Amme loved being silly and had a box of false faces and wigs she would pull out for any given occasion just to share laughter.  She always joined in on the fun whether it was dancing, singing her favorite hymn, or playing late night card games.  Amme also fancied gardening and was part of a special “Garden Club.”  She enjoyed being a part of Union Church’s Women’s Group and Bible Study, and back in the day was in the church choir for many years at Valley Presbyterian Church.  As outgoing as she was, Amme could also be a homebody and preferred to live her final days at home.  Lovingly called “Toots” by her late husband, Gary, she is now joyfully reunited with him.  There is comfort in knowing Mary Lou rests peacefully in heaven alongside those she loved and lost.
