Mary Joan (Shearson) Yecko

Mary Joan Yecko, age 88, of Findlay Township, Imperial, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Mary Joan was born February 7, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of the late Michael and Julianne (Blanchon) Shearson; devoted wife of 66 years to the late George Yecko who passed away on September 19, 2021; beloved mother to Diane Lockwood and her husband, Craig, Trina Tokarski and her husband, Mike, and Nancy Banker and her husband, Colby; cherished grandmother of Brett (Alyssa) Tokarski, Taylour (Tyler) Withrow, Erin Lockwood and her fiancé, Dan Hrynewich, and Eric (Kelsey) Lockwood; adored great-grandmother to Colton Tokarski, Levi Withrow, and McKenna Withrow. Mary Joan graduated from North Fayette High School in 1952 and attended Robert Morris School of Business. She then met her husband, George, at a wedding, and they were married on June 11, 1955. Mary Joan held various jobs over the years including Manufacturers Light & Heat Co., Mobay Corporation, Kelly Girl Services, and US Airways. She and George enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe including a memorable trip to London on the Concorde. Mary Joan was an avid card player and spent decades playing bridge with the same group of close friends. In recent years, she also spent time teaching other friends the art of playing the game of bridge. A private blessing service will be held at the HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Rd., North Fayette Twp., Imperial, PA, 724-695-7332, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, followed by burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
