Karen L. (Theiss) Posel

Karen L. Posel, age 81, of Findlay Township, Coraopolis, PA, formerly of McDonald, PA, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.  Karen was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on January 17, 1943, daughter to the late Karl Theiss, Ethel “Bennie” (Benefield) Schmidt, and stepfather, Fred Schmidt; devoted wife of 36 years to the late Albert M. “Chunnie” Posel who passed away on January 23, 2000; beloved mother to Michele “Mikey” (Pat) Green, John Posel, Beth (Joe) Hanna, and Terri (Pete) Huellen, whom she raised; cherished grandmother to Mitchell (Kerri) Posel, Morgan Posel, Dalton (fiancé Alyssa) Green, Colby Green, Rachel Hanna, and Samantha Hanna; adored great-grandmother to Arthur Posel; sister to Sheila (Eugene) Bartel; sister-in-law to Edith Posel and Dorothy Posel.  Karen is also preceded in death by brothers-in-law Raymond Posel and Mitchell Posel, and nephews Mitchell Posel Jr. and Allan Thomassy.

Karen was a graduate of Montour High School and a licensed beautician.  She worked most of her life at the family business, Schmidt’s, on Cliff Mine Road.  Later in life, she worked for Kaufmann’s Department Store until her retirement.  Karen liked her Starbucks, a peppermint pattie, going to Deep Creek Lake, and watching her children and grandchildren in all the activities in which they participated.  She especially enjoyed just spending time with her family.  Karen’s family would like to thank Promedica Hospice and her caregivers Sara, Edyie, and Diane who took such wonderful care of her.  Rest in peace, Karen.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, between the hours of 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm, at HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Road, North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, 724-695-7332.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at JD’s Joint, Kenmawr Plaza, 564 Pine Hollow Road, McKees Rocks, PA.  Committal to take place at a later date at St. Columbkille Cemetery.  It is respectfully requested that memorial donations be sent to one’s favorite charity.
