John Thomas Peroni, age 64, of Pattaya, Thailand, formerly of Imperial, PA, passed away in Thailand on April 21, 2024. John was born on December 24, 1959, in Pittsburgh, PA, son to the late Carol R. (Leopold) and Herman N. Peroni; brother to Laurie (Robert) Ferrence; uncle to Elliott (Caitlin) Ferrence and Emily Ferrence.
After graduating from West Allegheny Senior High School in 1977, John went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Chemistry from Edinboro State College in 1981. He furthered his education and graduated from Framingham State College in 1997 with a Master of Education in International Teaching. John taught chemistry, AP physics, science, and many math classes.
John was well-traveled in his profession, which led him across the country and around the globe. For a time he lived and taught on a reservation in Ganado, AZ, and also worked as a firefighter and EMT. While in AZ, John coached boys and girls cross country teams. When John arrived in Thailand, he held the positions of teacher and senior advisor, and coached swimming, soccer, and basketball. He also served on the National Board for Professional Teacher Standards. Throughout John’s teaching career, he touched many lives all over the world in countries including Colombia, Bolivia, Korea, Czech Republic, Italy, China, Saipan, Thailand, Vietnam, Danang, and Saudi Arabia. During his world travels, John enjoyed scuba diving and even completed a triathlon. A Funeral Ritual was held in June of 2024, and John’s ashes were released into the Bay of Thailand.
A Memorial Service to celebrate John’s memory will take place at The Table Church (formerly Crossroads Church), 1000 Crossroads Drive, Oakdale, PA, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M.
