John N. Flora

John Nicholas Flora of Imperial passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the age of 75. He was born on December 13, 1946, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Benjamin and Helen Flora.

A graduate of Derry Area High School, John played drums in several bands including The PJs and The Society. He proudly served his country in Vietnam with Army Intelligence. His eye for detail and creative problem solving served him well during his career. 

John enjoyed his 75 years by working on his unique collection of classic cars and building anything his daughter requested: from furniture to magic illusions to a planter that looked just like her dog, to intricate wood carvings to an 8 foot tall Grinch and Max to put in her yard at Christmas. He was a proud Pap and loved to watch his granddaughter play soccer and his grandson carry on the love of percussion that he inspired. His love of family was fierce, and John’s work ethic and giving nature will never be forgotten. 

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Karen (Bush) Flora, his daughter, Nicola and her husband Daniel Hipkins, and his adoring grandchildren Abigail and Anthony Hipkins.
