We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Jean Mary Perun, age 84, originally of Imperial, PA, on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Jean was born on November 6, 1941, the only child of Celia (Pregel) and Joseph Jaki. Jean is survived by her beloved husband, James Perun, her children, Matthew Perun and his wife, Jamie, and Michael Perun and his wife, Suzanna, and her cherished grandchildren, Madeline (David), Carter, Abigail, Alyssa, and Austin.
Jean attended West Allegheny High School and graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She taught 6th grade at Ingram Elementary in Montour School District where she met Jim. They were married locally at St. Columbkille R. C. Church on August 24, 1968, and started their 57-year adventure together. Jim’s military service and corporate career took them to numerous locations around the country; however, no place was closer to Jean’s heart than Jack Lake in Apsley, Ontario, Canada. Jack Lake was her constant home away from home for over 70 years. She treasured sharing her love of “The Lake” with her family and friends. Jean and Jim retired to Bonita Springs, FL, where they lived until this past December, when they moved to Denver, CO, to be closer to family.
Jean was loving, caring, and generous. Her generosity extended beyond family and friends. She donated property from her childhood home on Cliff Mine Road for the creation of the Cliff Mine Trailhead of the Montour Trail. Jean’s legacy of love and goodness remains and will never be forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columbkille R. C. Church of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Rest in peace, Jean.
Arrangements are entrusted to HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Road, North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, 15126, (724) 695-7332.
