Henry L. Hopkins Jr., age 89, of Findlay Township, Imperial, PA, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 17, 2024. Henry was born in Sewickley, PA, on December 13, 1934, son to the late Edith (Greuey) and Henry Hopkins Sr.; devoted husband of 65 years to Virginia (Kirk) Hopkins who passed away on June 3, 2020. Henry was the beloved father to nine children: Debra (Tony) Tart, Jeff Hopkins, Cheryl (Chuck) Krocsko, Pam Zimmer, Doug Hopkins, Kim (John) Cyprowski, Mark (Lisa) Hopkins, Tim (Dana) Hopkins, and Susie Harshbarger; cherished grandfather to 15 and adored great-grandfather to 12; brother to Harry (Opal) Hopkins, Tom (Debbie) Hopkins, Denny (Nancy) Hopkins, Eddie Hopkins, Cindy (Ken) Rex, and Kathryn Bell. In addition to his parents, Henry is preceded in death by five siblings: Doris Hopkins, Savilla Weber, Jake Hopkins, Carl Hopkins, Rawland “Pop” Hopkins, and Edith Hopkins.
Henry was funny and extremely outgoing. He loved to gather in his garage with his sons and all of their friends, telling stories about his 1951 Mercury and his Mack truck. Henry enjoyed coon hunting adventures with his dog, Blue, fishing, and outings to Shop ‘n Save to chat with everyone in the entire store. He also enjoyed golfing with his brothers and sons. Most of all, Henry enjoyed the simple and peaceful pleasures of life with his beloved wife, Virginia, like riding to Raccoon State Park to sit on a bench and eating ice cream with a view of the lake. He took great pleasure in picnics with the family and loved seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
While raising their family, Henry worked hard to support them so his wife could stay home to care for all nine of their children. He often performed side jobs, including working at a golf course, and was a mechanic to numerous friends and family members. He was willing to help anyone with whatever was needed. Henry was a kind, caring, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will sadly be missed by so many. Rest in peace, Henry.
