Harvey L. George

Harvey L. George, age 86, of North Fayette Township, McDonald, PA, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026.  Harvey was born in North Fayette Township on May 12, 1939, son to the late Hannah (Niehaus) and William George.  He is survived by his son, Harvey George Jr., his grandchildren, Maranda George, Christina George, and Britney George, and his great-grandchildren, Madalyn George, Joshua George, and Ziva Ragland.  Harvey is also survived by his daughter, Tammy (Frank) Ebert, and their son, Frank Ebert.  In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Jackson, Ruth Ann George, Daniel George, William George, August George, and Robert George.

Harvey was a machinist by trade, and he could fix anything and make anything run.  On top of that, he had a green thumb, a passion that was passed down from his mother.  Harvey had a large, heated greenhouse where he grew orchids, Christmas cacti, and birds of paradise.  He enjoyed any exotic or tropical plants.  (You won’t find any ordinary geraniums in his greenhouse!)  Harvey also enjoyed planting an extra large garden all of his life and received joy from sharing the fruits of his labor with his family and friends.  He lived on his small farm with his chickens, pheasants, peacocks, homing pigeons, and doves.  When Harvey was younger, for many years he raised 50-75 turkeys each year and sold them live.  People would come from miles around just to buy them for their Thanksgiving meals.  Harvey has influenced countless lives and will be missed deeply by all.  Rest in peace, Harvey.

Family to receive friends on Thursday, February 12, 2026, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M. Herrick, Supervisor/Owner, 951 Cliff Mine Road, North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, (724) 695-7332, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m.  Committal will take place following the service at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Georgetown, PA.
