George F. Yecko, age 95, of Findlay Township, Imperial, Pa, passed peacefully at his residence on Sunday evening, September 19, 2021. George was born on April 15, 1926, in McDonald, Pa, a son of the late Amelia (Michaux) and Alvie Yecko.
George graduated from McDonald High School in 1943 and then attended Clemson University. His studies were interrupted when he was inducted into the army. George was a proud veteran of WWII, having served in the US Army's 3rd Infantry Division (7th Regiment) where he saw combat in Germany. After returning from the war, George returned to Clemson to complete his degree in Architecture. He was later the co-owner of the firm Yecko & Zbikowski, a commercial architectural firm in Pittsburgh.
George was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and never missed a game! For over 60 years, George was an active member of the Franco Belgium Club in Sturgeon, where he enjoyed playing cards with his many friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Joan (Shearson); daughters, Diane (Craig) Lockwood, Trina (Mike) Tokarski and Nancy (Colby) Banker; grandchildren, Brett (Alyssa) Tokarski, Taylour (Tyler) Withrow, Erin Lockwood and Eric Lockwood; great-grandchildren, Colton Tokarski and Levi Withrow; sister Shirley (the late Walt) Gervas; and his brothers the late Alvie Yecko and George's twin Raymond Yecko.
A private Blessing service will take place on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, followed by burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, with Military Honors.
