George A. Russi, age 84, of North Fayette Township, Oakdale, PA, passed away at his home on Friday afternoon, June 20, 2025. George was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on June 29, 1940, son to the late Francis E. (Jakes) and George T. Russi; devoted husband of 55 years to the late Joanne M. (Martorana) Russi who passed on August 15, 2022; beloved father to Cheryl (Jason) Brown, George (Melanie) Russi, and Carolyn (Gregory) Naman; cherished grandfather to Zachary Brown, Jesse (Ashley) Brown, Cory Russi, Emma Russi, and Shane Brown; adored great-grandfather to Dalton Brown, Averie Brown, and Wesley Brown.
George was a dedicated band director for 35 years at South Side High School. He loved his job but was ready to retire in 1988. George was inducted into South Side’s Hall of Fame and loved to tell everyone he was a “Hall of Famer.” He was so proud of this achievement.
George enjoyed talking to everyone and meeting new people. He always knew how to make each and every person feel welcome. George loved his family more than anything. His wife, Joanne, was his life for 55 years. He loved his kids so very much, and then his grandkids became George’s life as they came into the world. The OBX vacations with his entire family and trips to Florida with his daughter and son-in-law meant everything to him. Rest in peace, George.
