Frank Progar Obituary

Frank John Progar, age 82, of North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, was called to his eternal home on Saturday evening, February 8, 2025.  He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.  Frank was born on September 23, 1942, in Imperial, PA, son to the late Alma (Bruno) Murdaca and Frank H. Progar.  Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Judy (Tytke) Progar; his children, Dana Chavis and Frank C. Progar; his cherished grandchildren, Austin and Brandon Chavis; his niece, Kim Murdaca; Aunt Marge Progar; and many cousins.  Along with his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his stepfather, Dominic Murdaca, and his sister, Donna Murdaca.

Frank graduated from West Allegheny High School and later met the love of his life, Judy.  They were married in 1964 and built their life together on the family homestead.  Frank worked for Duquesne Light Company for 36 years as an Automotive Maintenance Foreman, a career that aligned perfectly with his lifelong passion for cars.  From a young age, he developed a love for automobiles while working alongside his father.  As a young man, Frank enjoyed drag racing and, later in life, he took pride in showing his meticulously maintained car at countless car shows.  His enthusiasm for cars was not just a hobby but a central part of his life.

Frank was gifted with a talent for building and fixing anything.  Whether it was a car, household project, or lending a hand to someone in need, he had a knack for problem-solving and craftsmanship.

A lifelong parishioner of St. Columbkille Church in Imperial, Frank will be remembered for his infectious smile, kind heart, and unwavering willingness to help family, friends, and neighbors whenever needed.  He had a deep love for his family and was a dedicated friend to many.  Rest in peace, Frank.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice for the care given by the nurses, Frank’s aide, and the family’s dedicated volunteer at their home.  Their professionalism and encouraging words brought comfort to both Frank and his family during a difficult time.
