Dennis, age 81+, passed on Friday, December 17, 2021. He was a son of the late Robert and Mae (Dalby) Wilson and twin brother of R. Darrell (Jan) Wilson.
Dennis was born and raised in Imperial, PA, and attended Valley Presbyterian Church until he went to Waynesburg College where he majored in Education and Business Administration. After graduation in 1962, he taught at Montour H.S. until he went to France in 1968 as part of his training in the mission field. He went directly from there to Fort Dauphin, Madagascar in 1969 as a missionary with the American Lutheran Church. His home parish was Hope Lutheran Church in Hankey Farms where he had been an active member until his departure for Europe. While in Madagascar, he worked in the administration and accounting of two mission hospitals run by the church. He also taught in the American School for Missionary Children part time while working at the hospitals. Dennis returned to the U.S. in 1973 and since then had always been involved in Christian Outreach. He had been director of a church related day care center, operator and owner of a Christian bookstore, and lived in an intentional Christian community called the People of God. During this time with the People of God, he and four others rented a house in Oakland, Pittsburgh, and were involved in an outreach ministry for CMU and Pitt students. It was the place everyone ended up after Friday night prayer meetings at CMU campus. For the past eleven years, Dennis had lived and worked in a religious order of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh called Celebration. He did all of their accounting. He was Senior Warden at his local parish of All Saints which is one of two churches involved in mission rather than just maintaining a building. As a third Order Franciscan Brother, Dennis joined he brothers and sisters in the Order to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and to do penance, to ever seek to make the love of our Lord known everywhere, and to promote love and unity among all people.
Most recently, Dennis was a member of the Prince of Peace Anglican Church in Aliquippa.
