Daniel Detwiler Obituary

Daniel J. “Dit” Detwiler, age 64, of North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at his residence. Dan was born in Braddock, PA, on March 10, 1959, son to the late Janice (Rittenhour) and Harold Detwiler; devoted and loving father to Matthew Detwiler and his wife, Diana, Heather Burd and her husband, Brian, and Jared Detwiler; cherished grandfather to Jack, Chase, and Ethan; brother to Dean Detwiler and his wife, the late Joanna Detwiler.

Dan graduated from General Braddock High School in 1977, starting his career at the Homestead Steel Works flipping 70-foot I-beams. At its closure, he went on to work in Pittsburgh as a stationary engineer and ultimately landed at the Allegheny County Airport Authority, residing in Imperial, PA. Dan then became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 95. Known for his handiness, humility, and sense of humor, Dan had a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him. His bowling league and time on the putting green brought him joy, countless memories, and lifelong friendships, and he shared that joy with others. Dan was a proud Pittsburgh, Penn State, and Notre Dame sports fan and would don a respective ball cap whenever he left the house.

Dan led a life full of love, laughter, and meaningful connections. He was a devoted, loving father and grandfather who touched the lives of everyone around him. Friends and family meant the world to Dan, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Family to receive friends at the HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M.
