Catherine Mance Obituary

Catherine L. Mance, age 93, of Findlay Township, Imperial, PA, currently residing in Carnegie, PA, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Saturday afternoon, May 17, 2025.  Catherine was born on September 20, 1931, in McKees Rocks, PA, daughter to the late Katherine (Schmidt) and Lawrence Populo; loving and devoted wife of 48 years to the late Roger J. Mance who passed on October 20, 2002; beloved mother to Thomas (Patsy) Mance, the late Theresa Kowalski-Perrott who passed on December 3, 2021, Lucy (Denis) Porter, Marianne (Pat) O’Donnell, Frank (Marilyn) Mance, Matthew (Kathleen) Mance, Stephen (Hope) Mance, Michael Mance, and Julia Spence; much-loved grandmother to nineteen; adored great-grandmother to thirty-three; cherished great-great-grandmother to four; sister to Anna Marie Gilbertson and the late Lawrence Populo, George Populo, and Clara Buehman.

Catherine was not only the matriarch of her family, but she was the heart and soul.  She had a strong faith that was evident in the love, kindness, and care that she extended to her family and church community.  Catherine loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren quietly and consistently.  She always looked forward to a quick phone call or visit.  She always answered the phone “Mance Residence,” and if your visit with Catherine was close to 6:00 p.m., she would graciously ask to be excused while she organized the prayer line.  She continued to pray consistently even when her prayer line responsibilities had ended.  Catherine served humbly at St. Columbkille Church laundering the linens and was a dedicated member of the Christian Mothers and Guild and Ladies of Charity.  For many years, she accompanied her husband, Roger, to many local events dressed as Mrs. Claus where her joy and compassion were shared with both young and old alike.  Rest in peace, Catherine.
