Carolyn I. Hilgert, age 83, of North Fayette Township, Oakdale, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, May 19, 2025. Carolyn was born on July 18, 1941, in Duquesne, PA, daughter to the late Wilma (Laban) and Michael Sudsina; loving wife of over 62 years to Arthur J. Hilgert Jr.; forever loved by her children, Arthur (Charmaine), Sandy (Alan), Colleen (Joseph), and Stephen (Gina); cherished grandmother to the greatest joys of her life, Brian, Derek, Jordan (Kaitlyn), Jarrett, Morgan, Olivia, Noah, and Natalie; sister to Michael Sudsina, Larry (Patty) Sudsina, Nancy Garris (Bill Barrere), and the late Donald (Loretta, who survives) Sudsina.
Carolyn was a member of St. Columbkille Church where she served as a Christian Mother and Lector. She worked for over 30 years as an Administrative Assistant at Ohio Valley General Hospital. Carolyn loved to travel, go to the gym, tend to the flowers in her yard, but above all else, her family was her everything. As a favorite quote of her children says, “To the World she was a Mother, but to her Family she was the World.” Over the past five weeks, Carolyn never gave up; she was a true fighter until the very end. She is now at peace in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
