Bobby Joe Thrine Obituary

Bobby Joe Thrine, age 88, passed away in his home peacefully on March 28, 2022.  He was the son of the late Carl L. and Evelyn L. (Schimmel) Thrine,  He is survived by his older sister, Christina (Thrine) Bush and brother-in-law, James Bush, of Lebanon, Indiana.

Bobby Joe was born in Lebanon, Boone County, Indiana, where he was raised on his father's farm. He graduated from Lebanon High School, Class of 1952. After, he had joined the
National Guard for 9 years where he trained at Camp Edberry, Camp McCoy, and Camp Grating. During this time, Bobby Joe had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for about 50-60 years.

As a man of many occupations, he worked in a factory in Lebanon, Indiana, making shell casings during the Korean war. He also worked for Shell Oil Company for a couple of years in
multiple cities around Muncie, Indiana. Bobby Joe ran the local grocery store, IGA Grocery, in Gaston, Indiana, for 30 years. He sold the business to join Walmart in Muncie for 16 years. He
retired in 2007.

At this time, he met Karen Collins, married September 1961. They had three beautiful children: Gary Joe Thrine, Bradley Jay Thrine, and Christie Sue (Thrine) Dorste. After 20 years
of marriage, they divorced in 1981.

In May 2007, Bobby Joe moved out to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to be close to his only daughter's family: Christie, her husband Todd, and children, Rachel and Ryan. For 15 years, he got to watch his grandchildren grow up. He was involved in attending every sporting event and band/chorus concerts. Bobby Joe was the biggest supporter of his grandchildren. He was able to watch them both graduate high school (2017 & 2020), Rachel graduate college (2021), and Ryan continue his college career.

He loved the time that he had spent with his family and friends made in Indiana and Pennsylvania. Bobby Joe was grateful for his daughter, Christie, for supporting him and giving
