Betty Stickley Obituary

Betty J. Stickley, of North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, at the blessed age of 98, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Juniper Village of South Hills.  Betty was born on April 15, 1927, in Louise, WV, cherished daughter to the late Viola (Black) and James Metalik; loving wife of 51 years to the late Charles J. Stickley who passed on June 9, 2003; beloved mother to her two sons, C. Bruce Stickley and his wife, Denise, and Mark A. Stickley and his wife, Diane; adored grandmother to Jason (Kristin) Stickley, Jarrod  Stickley, Ryan Stickley, and Matthew (Stacey) Stickley; adored great-grandmother to Brock Stickley, Cooper Stickley, Brody Stickley, and the late Cody Stickley who passed on August 19, 2018.

Betty graduated from Findlay High School in 1944 then attended Slippery Rock State Teachers College from 1944-1948, graduating with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education.  After graduation, Betty began her career and was a teacher at Richland Township in Johnstown, PA, Stowe High School, and West Allegheny School District, where she inspired her students with her warmth, wisdom, and tireless commitment to education.  Her classroom was more than a place of learning – it was a sanctuary of encouragement and growth.

Betty attended Valley Presbyterian Church for many years where she was a member of the Board of Session, Trustees, and Choir.  Later in life, she attended Clinton United Presbyterian Church.  In addition, Betty was a member of the Imperial Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Worthy Matron and District Deputy.

Betty adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a love that was boundless and beautifully expressed in every moment she spent with them.  As an avid sports fan, including West Allegheny sports, it was a joy to watch a Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, or Pirates game with her.  Betty also enjoyed camping and boating with family and friends at Tygart Lake in Grafton, WV.

Betty’s legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and deep human connections as she touched countless lives.  She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
