Bertha (Orel) Sekel

Bertha (Orel, Mikoloski) Sekel, age 98, of North Fayette Township, Imperial, PA, passed away on Monday morning, December 2, 2024.  Bertha was born in North Fayette Township on June 4, 1926, daughter to the late Mary (Yamnick) and Joseph Orel; beloved mother to Carole (Paul) Heitzenrater, Joanne Bloom (Grant Connors), Linda Kudzmas (Michael Slotwinski), and Patricia (James) Bumbaugh; cherished grandmother to Heather (Daniel) Poland, Zane (Karie) Bloom, Holly (Christopher) Slocum, Amy (Joseph) Brown, Charles Kudzmas, Allison Kudzmas, Angeline Kudzmas, James Bumbaugh, and Joseph (Gracie) Bumbaugh; adored great-grandmother to Megan Poland, Zane Bloom, Nathan Slocum, Ryan Slocum, Emily Bloom, Alicia Bloom, and Charles Bloom.

Bertha loved the outdoors and enjoyed tending to her flowers and vegetable garden.  She delighted in sitting in her gazebo, enjoying nature and watching the traffic go by.  She also looked forward to the time she spent with family and friends at her camp in Warren County.  Another interest of Bertha’s was browsing through yard sales and flea markets, and it would surprise no one that she was a fan of polka music and attending polka dances as Bertha was an 80+ year member of the SNPJ Lodge #106 in Imperial.  Bertha was a breast cancer survivor and a hard worker throughout her life, and she cherished the years she had with her family and friends.  Bertha was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Everyone is welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish at St. Columbkille R. C. Church followed by burial at St. Columbkille Cemetery.  Arrangements by HERRICK COMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE, PC, Edward M.
