It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Annette M. Rimer, age 74, of North Fayette Township, Oakdale, PA, on Monday, March 2, 2026. Annette was born in Monroeville, PA, on August 13, 1951, the first of five children to the late Genevieve (Kazusky) and John “Zip” Oreski; loving wife of 51 years to Dana R. Rimer, who survives; beloved mother to Rebecca (Robert) Hoehn of Zelienople, PA, and Mark (Shannon) Rimer of Springboro, OH; cherished grandmother to Chelsea, Carter, and Cooper Hoehn, and Lydia and Luca Rimer. Annette will be greatly missed by her siblings, Joan (Jack) O’Toole of Monroeville, PA, John (Barb) Oreski of Trafford, PA, Michele (Rege) Peternel of Stevensville, MD, and Ami Jo (Eric) Akins of Derry, PA, sister-in-law, Bonnie Rimer, of St. Mary’s, PA, and numerous, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
Annette attended Gateway High School and graduated from Clarion University with a degree in Education. While at Clarion, she met Dana and made lifelong friends through the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She went on to become a school substitute teacher and later moved into retail management where she worked for over 20 years. However, Annette’s calling was the dedication to her faith in teaching CCD and RCIA, serving as Eucharistic Minister and church greeter at St. Columbkille Church, and being involved with the Christian Mothers and Guild.
Annette treasured her time with her siblings whether it was a Saturday morning phone call, road trips, sharing holiday traditions, or visiting her sister in Maryland; she was happiest when everyone was together. She loved reading, enjoyed cooking and baking, and traveling to the beach with her husband. Annette savored the moments with her children and their spouses, and she adored her grandchildren and all the joy they brought to her life.
Annette was a positive light throughout her life, always with a smile on her face, even through the toughest parts of her treatments. She liked to say she was having breakfast with Jesus as she watched daily mass and would pray daily for everyone by name on her prayer list.
Annette’s family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Brufsky and the staff at Magee, and the wonderful doctors, nurses, and caregivers at UPMC Shadyside. Their personalized care meant the world to Annette, and her family knew she was always in good hands. Rest in peace, Annette.
