Andrew J. “Andy” Rudge Jr., age 85, of North Fayette Township, Oakdale, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024. Andy was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on October 27, 1938, son to the late Frances (Symsek) and Andrew Rudge Sr. He was a caring and loving husband for 65 years to his wife, the late Pat (McKee) Rudge, who passed on February 7, 2024. The closeness they shared would be felt among those around them. Andy was a beloved father to Andrew (Kimberly) Rudge, Michael (Celeste) Rudge, and Diana (Mark Demblowski) Rudge; cherished grandfather “Pap” to Andrew (Megan) Rudge, Jennifer (Timothy) Kelley, and Brian Rudge; adored great-grandfather to Drew Rudge, Theo Rudge, Adelynn Kelley, and triplets Owen, Abigail, and Emma Kelley; brother to Roseann Lange, Marlene Legath, and David (LaRee) Rudge; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Andy started out as a baker then moved to being a driver for Benvenuti’s Italian Bakery with 20+ years of service. Years later, he moved on to the Port Authority, retiring at the age of 60 years after 26 years of service. In his retirement years, Andy kept active as a member at the local YMCA six days a week, ending each week with a spin class, coffee, and pumpkin muffy after class with the crew. Mostly, though, Andy enjoyed the good life with Pat, spending time at Marco Island.
Some of Andy’s loves that will always hold a place in our hearts:
* It was important to Andy to share and spend time with his grandkids for dance recitals, hockey games, and everything that surrounded being a great Pap. His grandpa skills also extended into spending time with his great grandkids.
* Andy learned to play the accordion at a young age and would entertain family and friends over the years.
* His father-in-law, William, took Andy under his wing to teach him skills to repair and restore cars. Andy shared that passion with his sons restoring GTOs.
* Andy served as a Mason and performed duties as the Worshipful Master, leading the Franklin/St. John’s/Trinity Lodge No. 221 for several years.
Andy touched so many lives and will be missed dearly.
